Kai Hotson

Kai Hotson brings over 18 years of architectural practice experience across multiple scales in New York and Toronto, joining SvN in 2024 after leading Hotson Architecture since 2013. He is committed to creating high-quality buildings and environments for living and learning through innovative design approaches.

Throughout his career, Kai has taken leading roles on diverse projects ranging from residential housing and community buildings to university facilities, commercial interiors, master planning, and competitions. His work has been recognized for design innovation through awards and publications, most recently including the Architizer A+ Award and Shaw Contract Design Award for the University of British Columbia’s tə šʷəelə̓s tə k̓ʷƛ̓kʷəʔʔɬ Student Residence.

Kai currently serves on the City of Vancouver Urban Design Panel, contributing to the city's design review process. His commitment to architectural excellence spans both built projects and collaborative design processes that engage communities and stakeholders in creating meaningful spaces and environments.
