Sam Dufaux
Sam Dufaux leads design and innovation at SvN, focusing on the integration of architecture, landscape architecture, and ecological systems to build a post-carbon world. His award-winning work centers on regenerative projects that repurpose city infrastructure into mixed-use and community-oriented developments.
Prior to SvN, Sam was an Associate Principal at WORKac in New York City for 10 years, where he led many of the firm's built projects spanning public works, commercial, and residential developments. At SvN, he directs some of the firm's largest regenerative projects, including Greenwood Yards, The Destructor, and the Durham Meadoway. He also led and developed the vision plans for Polo Park and ONCairo, creating new design tools that integrate life-cycle analysis and whole-life carbon approaches to design.
With 20 years of industry experience, Sam is also an Assistant Professor (Teaching Stream) at the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design at the University of Toronto. Sam directs graduate design studios focused on life cycles, circularity, and low-carbon construction. He earned his Master's degree from Columbia University and Bachelor of Architecture degree in Switzerland, where he is a licensed architect.
